Blue Moon - Shot from Bonney Lake, WA

Blue Moon

These generally occur in the presence of water vapor, gases, or ash that is present in the air and deflects the different color as the light from the moon is reflected off of it.  This occurs generally when you have wild fires present releasing these items into the atmoshpere or volcanic activity.  Mt. St. Helens had spouted a huge plume of water vapor and gas some stating as high as 16 thousand feet into the air just days prior to this picture having been taken.
